MELTING

PERFORMATIVE INSTALLATION

Melting is a sound experiment. It depicts various personal objects encased in ice. A contact mic is placed onto the ice and then placed in hot water to record intense cracking and sizzling sounds. Images of each object are placed on monitors and the corresponding sounds for each plays. The preciousness of the personal items represents the preciousness of the ice. Statistics on global warming are printed on small sheets of paper and read aloud by viewers. Recording of each reading are recorded as documentation.

"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."
